April 17-21

Hello Families,

Here is a rather long blog to catch you up on many things that have been happening in room 13!

Math

We have finished up Subtraction and will be moving on to Fractions next week! Ask your child how to stack numbers for subtraction-which number goes on the top?

Literacy

The students worked hard on creating their own ice cream flavours using alliteration. So much creativity but I can't say I would like to try too many of their creations!

Gymnastics

With the climber and tressels out, the students were able to experiment more with their movements and experience more risky play. With remembering our 'three in a tree' rule, the students climbed, balanced and had a blast!

Social Studies

We learned about the Inuit (Iqaluit) this week. Books and videos were watched to see what the landscape looks like, what the lifestyle is like, what the natural resources are and what kind of transportation is used. Ask your child what fact they found the most interesting!

It was also Earth Day. We brainstormed and learned about ways we can protect the Earth. We hope you enjoyed Earth Day on the 22nd and were able to use one of the ideas below!

Nutrition

As promised we began tasting a few foods. It was a mystery to them what it was until they felt the food and guessed using their sense of touch. We have tried bread, apple and yogurt so far. One more mystery food to go!
