Hello Families,
Thanks you so much for joining us for Family Literacy day if you were able to. Here are a few Literacy games you can play at home. We will also be trying these at school too!
We have been very busy in our classroom over the last few weeks!
We learned about the digraphs th, sh, ch, and wh. We sorted pictures that had each digraph
at the beginning of the word or at the end of the word. Students were encouraged to attempt to spell each word as well.
We learned about compound words and played the game, I have ___, who has ___ to match up our cards and make compound words together.
Amazing writing has been taking place. We read The Colour Monster again. Each student picked an emotion or feeling as well as a colour to go along with it. Each day we added a sentence in our writing to tell about our colour and feeling. We learned about similies and were able to transfer our learning into our writing! Some examples were:
- Green is a beautiful as an emerald.
- Green is like yummy, crunchy cucumbers.
- Yellow is as bright as the sun.
- Green is as green as a stem of a flower.
- how to be strong
- how to be calm and manage our anger
- perseverance
- teamwork
- not quitting
