Friday, November 25th

 Hello Families, Ms. Scotton (our student teacher here until Dec. 17th) and I enjoyed seeing so many of you at conferences. If you forgot to mention something or weren't able to make it, please email me anytime!  Hello Families,  Here is the long awaited update! We have been busy learning in Room 13! Math We have continued to develop our ability to represent numbers through using a number line, using base 10 or expanded and standard form. Grade one's are working with numbers to 100 and grade two's numbers to 1000. Through using dice and white boards, students were able to create their own numbers at a level they were comfortable at-mild, medium or spicy! Using templates, they could demonstrate their knowledge. Inside Out and Our Emotions

Back at the beginning of the month  we enjoyed our PJ day and watching the movie Inside Out together. We have been working with the new physical education and wellness curriculum and are excited for students to be learning about their feelings and self-regulation.  In grade one, students are exploring personal characteristics, feelings and emotions to understand self. By the end of the year, students will:  recognize how emotions (love, sadness, frustration, joy) can be expressed identify and communicate feelings in a variety of contexts  identify responses to emotions (focusing on breathing, taking a movement break, seeking out a supportive adult, identifying feelings) reflect on feelings and emotions that result from personal experiences In grade two, students are exploring roles, responsibilities, and self-regulation and their connections to self-understanding. By the end of the year, students will:  explain the benefits of self-regulation describe strategies that support self-regul

 Art Cards Art cards have come home in your child's back pack. We hope that you love out work! Ordering information is on the inside of the card and their special code is found on the back. I did take a photo of each code incase the card got lost on the way home!  If you have any questions, please ask!

Scholastic Book Fair

  Save The Date!   Dear families,     Mark your calendars! The fun and excitement of a Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! To adapt to our changing needs, Scholastic has developed a Hybrid Book Fair (in-school with a virtual link) to provide an opportunity for our students and families to experience the joy of reading together.     So, save the date! Our   Scholastic Virtual Book Fair   will take place on:      Monday, November 21 st   till Sunday, November 27 th       Virtual Book Fair Link:   https://virtualbookfairs.scholastic.ca/pages/5184682                           (link will go live on Monday, November 21 st )   When it’s time to shop, you can choose to visit the virtual link and purchase online or send in cash for your child to purchase books in person. Remembrance Day

  Remembrance Day:  How You Can Help Make a Positive Change in the Lives of Veterans     Poppy Fund Donations   Students will be given a poppy on November 10th while honouring Remembrance Day at school.  If you would like to send in a monetary donation to support the Poppy Fund that day, it would be greatly appreciated.  You can also show your support by donating online through following the link:   https://legion.ca/donations     MOMMS Pet Food Drive   To support Veterans and their dogs, our community pet store is collecting donations. These items will help support the pets that bring so much comfort and happiness to those who have served our country. Please send any donations to school with your child, on or before November 10th. They will be dropped off by Room 7 and 8. See the information below for donation details.
