Hello Families,

Sorry for the delay in posting! Here is what we got up to last week.

We began our work with Artist in Residence, Sharon Fortowsky and are using books by Perter Reynolds as our inspiration. The students learned different painting techniques such as dry on wet, wet on wet and blending aka 'bleeding'. Playing with how much 'colour or pigment' on their brush allowed them to experiment with how deep or light they wanted each colour they used to be. We have two more sessions with Ms. Sharon to learn more incredible ways to paint!

In Math we continued to work on our ability to represent a given number with the grade 2's guiding the grade 1's. They helped to locate different materials within our own classroom that could show each number in different ways. We have begun completing Esti Mysteries together as a class to practice our estimation and reasoning skills.

We are learning how to Listen to Reading via the Epic app on iPads that we have in our classroom. If you are able to send in headphones with your child please do! We also continued exploring a few letters and their corresponding sounds such as Rr, Hh, Ff and Kk as well as Vowel Team E!

Upcoming Dates:

October 28: Non-instructional Day-No school for students

October 31: Halloween (more details to come)

November 7: Photo retakes

November 10: Remembrance Day Assembly

November 11: Remembrance Day – school closed
